Piercing Aftercare Instructions

The following are your aftercare instructions. These instructions are easy to follow and very important. They are essential in ensuring that your piercing will both heal properly and look good for many years to come.

Do not remove the piercing. Piercings can take many months to completely heal. Changing or removing jewelry should be avoided during that time.

While your piercing is healing, treat it with the same respect as you would any other kind of broken skin. Do not touch the piercing or let someone else touch, kiss or lick the piercing. Do not let the piercing come in contact with another person’s bodily fluid.

During the healing process for oral piercings, thoroughly rinse with mouthwash after smoking, chewing tobacco or eating spicy foods.

Avoid hot tubs and public pools during the healing process. Also avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for a few weeks. Definitely avoid tanning oils, lotions and sand.

Do not wear tight fitting clothes which might irritate the piercing. Change bed linens at least once a week.

Never use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on or around your piercing because they may damage healthy cells and cause scar tissue. Petroleum jelly products are not recommended for aftercare as they can collect and promote the growth of bacteria. Bactine should not be used and is not recommended for puncture wounds.

Forbidden Tattoo and Piercing highly recommends using H2Ocean Piercing Aftercare Spray.
